Getty Images has added exclusive images by Patrick Hoelck, Kurt Iswarienko, Tyler Shields and Yu Tsai to its celebrity portraiture brand Contour. The company also announced the acquisition of Britain’s Redferns music picture library, further expanding its celebrity and entertainment offering.
Hoelck’s images capture high-profile celebrities, designers and musicians, such as Clint Eastwood, Tommy Hilfiger and Beyonce Knowles. Iswarienko is known for the dreamlike quality of his fashion and product imagery that has appeared in Men’s Vogue, Interview and other popular print titles. Shields specializes in conceptual portraits of young celebrities, actors and indie rock bands; he often combines stills and video into multimedia projects and is among the most viewed photographers on the Internet. Tsai combines artistic pursuits—which include directing, photography and design—with humanitarian work, including a wildlife-conservation research project completed with the National Geographic Research Group.
All four new Contour photographers are based in Los Angeles. Their work is now available on the Getty Web site.
David Redfern, the British photographer who founded the Redferns Collection in the early 1960s, is also joining Getty as a contributor and consultant. With this acquisition, Getty is gaining content that ranges from 19th Century classical composers to today’s country, jazz, blues, rock, pop and hip-hop headliners; Redfern’s own work includes images of Miles Davis, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles.
Over 30,000 Redferns Collection images will be added to the Getty Web site starting in February 2009. The best content, in the opinion of Getty editors, will be represented exclusively by the Seattle company.
