Does RM Represent 1% of Images Sold?

Since you quoted me at the beginning of the story, let me comment.

I find it amazing that you keep referring people to Microstock. Even in this story, it is almost humorous. You referred to a photographer that decided to put all of his energy into Microstock (all ofhis eggs in one basket, as it were)... and many were downloaded many times. But your subliminal ending says it ALL... but he is still not making a profit yet!

But, you say photographers can tell immediately what is selling by the instant download information that you don't get immediately with RM. Good... they can now see what images are downloading immediately and not allowing them still to make a profit! Gee, I would rather wait a month and see myself many $400-500-800 sales on a sales report from my agencies. I don't need immediate... I need big sales -- some in the thousands from my agencies each month.

Why don't you SHOUT it like many of we top shooters said in rebuttal to your last story?? SHOUT THIS TO YOUR AUDIENCE... YOU CAN NOT HAVE A CAREER MAKING MONEY IF YOU DECIDE TO GO THE MICROSTOCK METHOD!!! Period.

It does not help to see downloads immediately; it does not help to see more downloads; it does not help to produce crap and send it to Microstock! THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE MONEY IN STOCK IS TO SELL IT FOR A FAIR PRICE --- RIGHTS MANAGED! Jim, we all keep telling you that, but you really keep pushing Microstock as a "possibility"! Possibility of what... to sell shoes for a living and make beer money in Microstock sales, while you also water down the prices for everyone else??

I read your columns, Jim, but I wonder where you really want people to go. You keep pounding the same story that makes no financial sense. You would do a greater service to tell people to produce top images, sell them in RM mode, and make a living doing that instead of trying to give downloads away and SAY you are a photographer!
