The CEPIC Congress in Barcelona June 10 – 14, 2013 will attract stock agents from around the world. Falling prices and the impact they are having on stock agencies and professional photographers will be one of the key issues discussed.??I posed a series of questions to a few industry leaders that will be in attendance. Falling prices will be one of the key issues to be discussed? Really! Where have these guys been for the last five years? Must have been a national security issue that they weren't allowed to discuss.

And about OFFSET: I believe it was mentioned that they will provide a 30% royalty. What ever happen to 50% or 40% for RM? And I bet it will be 30% of an amount far less than RM sales of even a few years ago.

I have a question. We all know that there are still maybe 25, mabe more macrostock photographers who earns very good money today.
What is a reason. There is lot of newcomers who are too good photographers. But not so good income. Is it their good rank at agencies from old times already.

Indeed, a mechanism must be developed allowing for RM content producers to set minimum fees enforced across all distribution platforms

Agencies should sell more directly. If all agencies selling and distibuting via "distributors of distributors" then there is competition between prices only.
Not between content. But all we know that it almost impossible. A leaders of industry will meet each other at Cepic, but no results.

One of the subjects will be precisely this: the possibility of setting minimum fees for pictures ... Some legal initiatives are underway. .. Are they realistic? And there are other solutions you have never thought about: what about monetizing social media sites for example, what about Google Image and what to do about it? Publishers (in Germany to start with) have found a way to monetize Google News - why can't we as the picture industry monetize Google Image? What to do about it,? Just complain? And beyond prices, there is the larger issue of professionalism and how to (still) be a professional in a wrold saturated with images.

There is an one problem with Google Images. You see so much bad, irrelevant images before photo buyer will find a some good too. If smb. wants to sell images then photos must be very well keyworded, optimized for searh engines. SEO. And of course photos must be edited. Unfortunately at Google search we do not see edited images. Crap is on first place.
