InternetCases.com reports that the Appellate Court of Illinois has turned down Corbis' petition to dismiss the case in which it was accused of violating the publicity rights of the late singer James Brown. The case hinges on Corbis licensing the copyright in images of Brown without consent. The court ruled that what Corbis sells and the legal effect of such sales were open to interpretation. As such, "a material and genuine dispute of fact" will continue to play out in the legal arena.
