iStockphoto 2012: Semi-Annual Analysis

Our semi-annual analysis of iStockphoto sales has once again produced interesting results. As of January 2, 1012 istockcharts was tracking the sales of 38,163 of the more than 100,000 iStock contributors. More than 90% of the images in the iStock collection belong to this group of contributor. Combined these contributors have had a minimum of 114,875,519+ downloads since each started working with iStock. During 2011 alone a minimum of 18,615,558+ images (and probably about 21.5 million) were licensed for use.

Jim, have you figured in all of the IT issues that occured at Istock from mid November into December? A great number of Istock contributors have no access to their own data from those time periods, and Istock seems in no hurry to get that info to them. It has also been noted in Istock forums that sales during that time appear to be greatly reduced, and no explanation, to my knowledge, has been given to the contributors. Once that info is finally tallied, it may skew your results a bit.
