George Sinclair has launched a new business: Universal Images Group Ltd. The company’s primary focus will be to assist clients of Sinclair’s other business, The Virtual Picture Desk, in marketing their editorial imagery through third-party channels. As a first step, UIG has entered into an agreement with Alamy to provide it with upwards of 300,000 images for global distribution.
Sinclair points out: “Many of our collections and photographer groups represent great content, ideal for editorial and other vertical markets, and in particular those markets which do not require 50 meg digital file sizes and/or model releases.” UIG will accept files as small as 20MB.
Editorial imagery is often rejected for representation by portals and distributors focused on selling to commercial users. UIG aims to help their clients find markets for their editorial imagery.
The new business will be based in the U.K. and lead by recently appointed business development director Graham Everitt, a stock-licensing industry veteran who formerly managed the Antony Blake Stock Food Agency.
