As part of an effort to assess the demand for stock photography in China, an American photographer recently talked with the creative director of the Ogilvy & Mather office in Beijing. The creative director said:
“Stock? Yes, we do use stock from time to time, though most of what we find are ‘hokey’ images of Chinese people... As to who do we use, it’s Getty and, uh, I guess, Corbis. Actually, I think Corbis went out of business, didn’t they?! Hey guys,” he motioned to a group of 6 creatives gathered in the room, “does anyone here know anything about Corbis?”
This creative director has been working in Beijing for over 10 years and worked on Madison Avenue in New York during the 1990s.
