Transtock Inc., a stock photography business specializing in transportation images, recently finalized a deal with Hachette Filipacchi Media to exclusively represent the still images and high-definition video footage from the Road & Track and Car and Driver magazine collections.
The inclusion of these images furthers the growth of Transtock and maintains the company’s position as the largest stock-image and footage library specializing in transportation images. “Having stock photos and HD video made available from these two celebrated brands enriches our library and offerings to clients,” said Dean Siracusa, Transtock founder and president.
Road & Track and Car and Driver magazines cover the vast majority of the 350 different car and truck models sold in the U.S. Each year, around 30% of the models are new or updated. Thus, over a three-year period, more than 90% of all vehicles sold in the U.S. are shot in both still and HD video formats, usually in unique locations all across the country.
Transtock will be licensing the images and video both in-house and through its distribution channels. The material will begin going live on transtock.com within the next few weeks and will be priced as rights-managed content. The company also operates a rights-clearance department that can aid clients in obtaining trademark releases for advertising uses, as needed.
Another advantage in having such a complete collection is that Transtock is now able to provide one-stop shopping to customers that need large numbers of images. For example, insurance companies sometimes want to place front three-quarter views of all car models sold in the U.S. on their Web sites, so consumers may view then when signing up for car insurance. Transtock licenses such sets with specific usage for a single annual fee.
