Fotolia founder and chief executive officer Oleg Tscheltzoff is also the CEO of Flixtime, a new free Web site that allows users to create their own custom production-quality videos. In addition to providing tools to turn users’ own images, clips and text into 60-second videos, Flixtime is also a licensing outlet for royalty-free images from Fotolia and AudioMicro’s audio.
Flixtime-produced video can be used for both personal and independent commercial uses. In particular, Tscheltzoff said there has been rising demand for a tool that helps corporate users create video for Web sites, projects and presentations but at a lower cost. “Instead of investing tons of money in equipment, talent and a location to produce videos, our users can simply use their content, or the images and music provided by Flixtime, to create the videos they envision,” he explained.
Flixtime took two years to bring to market, and Tscheltzoff says it will “democratize” video in the same way microstock has made stills accessible to a wider-than-traditional audience.
