Late last year, Idée launched a commercial API that allowed third parties to develop programs utilizing the TinEye image-to-image search engine. At the time, the API did not have a user interface and required knowledge of programming to implement. The company has just announced that it added a user interface to its commercial API Web site.
While the non-commercial TinEye search engine allows free searches, it restricts the daily number of searches per user. The commercial Web site offers paid search packages that enable high-volume users to surpass this restriction. Packages range from 1,000 searches for $70 to 30,000 searches for $1,500, and larger bundles can be arranged on demand.
