Teams from Portugal and Australia have won the print and media Young Lions Competition at the 56th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. Getty Images has sponsored Young Lions for 12 years. The company was the exclusive content provider and provided technical support to competitors throughout the process.
The Young Lions Print Win went to Portugal copywriter Clara de Castro Darbandi-Tehrani and art director Nuni Tome Teixeira from Draft FCB. Competitors were challenged to create an ad, on behalf of the International Fund for Animal Welfare, aimed at bringing awareness to the risks of buying wildlife souvenirs that contribute to endangered species’ decline.
The winning team in the media competition united Lauren Cassar and Tristan Burrell from Universal McCann of Australia. The brief was set by the World Food Programme, and the duo had 24 hours to develop a media campaign that focused on increasing the number of children that WFP feeds in school from 22 million to 59 million.
