“As a global, socially responsible company, it is important for us to support sustainable projects that make a real difference in the lives of people around the world,” said Jon Oringer, founder and CEO of Shutterstock, which has financed wells to provide clean drinking water for 1,500 villagers in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
Shutterstock says that globally, waterborne diseases are responsible for 4,500 child deaths daily. Before new water wells were constructed through Shutterstock’s yearlong partnership with charity: water, villagers of Amhara had to travel for hours to collect drinking water from stagnant ponds and other unsanitary sources.
