U.K.’s Press Association has launched an online archive of video news. The
offering contains 40,000 clips from the past and present, ranging from current affairs to sports and entertainment news coverage.
The archive is available to newsrooms, online publishers, corporations and anyone else wishing to license the footage. Similar to the recently launched Associated Press service, the Press Association offering includes raw video alongside pre-packaged voiced news stories in broadcast quality.
Managing director Tony Watson echoed the sentiment of many media industry executives when he said: “In today’s news market, clients need access to multimedia content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—the archive provides them with the flexibility to search and download any clip, at any time, in a range of formats.”
