The Photolibrary Group has announced that it now exclusively represents the image and video content of VisitBritain, the National Tourist Board of the U.K. The collection offers travel and lifestyle imagery of Britain.
Photolibrary won this business through a tender process, competing against undisclosed “major industry players,” the company said. Though Photolibrary has offices in London and Leeds, as well as three Stateside offices, the company’s roots are in Australasia: it spans locations in Australia (Sydney and Melbourne), Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates.
As part of the deal, Photolibrary will develop and manage a new commercial Web site, which will launch in July and remain at the current location of Britain on View. This Web site previously hosted free imagery, which will continue to be available to the travel industry and media, with usage restrictions, through Visit Britain Images, a separate Web site to be hosted by Photolibrary. The National Tourist Board intends to further invest in commercial image production.
Glenn Parker, Photolibrary Group chief executive officer, said that winning this representation agreement was particularly significant given the upcoming London Olympics.
