Photolibrary announced the acquisition of New York-based editorial image library Peter Arnold Inc. Photolibrary Group chief executive officer Glenn Parker said the addition of the Peter Arnold Collection will enhance the company’s science, medical and natural history offering.
The Australian company’s offering is strong with specialist content, which includes the Garden Picture Library, Oxford Scientific, Fresh Food Images, Britain on View and Monsoon Images. Together, Oxford Scientific and the Peter Arnold Collection rise above 200,000 digital images.
Photolibrary plans to maintain the Peter Arnold Web site, investing in an upgrade within the next few months. The newly added collection will also be available through Photolibrary’s generalist site.
Peter Arnold ran his agency since the 1970s, when he first established the collection with a focus on photomicrography and natural history. Remaining independent for more than 35 years in business, Arnold expanded the library to encompass nature, wildlife, medicine, environmental issues, weather, microscopy, underwater and the developing world. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
