Olycom, a major Italian photographic agency headquartered in Milan and founded in 1958 by Walfrido Chiarini as Olimpia Fotocronache has filed for bankruptcy. Everything regarding debts is in the hands of a judge.
LaPresse, the Italian multimedia news agency led by Marco Durante, has acquired the analog and digital libraries of Olycom including the Publifoto brand, the historical archives Olimpia and Olycom and related brands covering the whole of the twentieth century, with a collection of over 15 million images.
The Olycom digital platform will be reactivated shortly. The photographs will be available through both the Olycom platform and the
LaPresse.it portal. Many of the photographers who have been represented by Olycom will now supply their work to LaPresse.
LaPresse also plans to digitize many of the analogue iconographic heritage images acquired from Olycom. This collection covers more than a century of history going back to 1908.
LaPresse is asking all Olycom suppliers to contact Marcella Gastini (
Znepryyn.tnfgvav@yncerffr.vg ) and let the company know whether or not you agree to allow LaPresse to represent the current images on Olycom. If you don’t want LaPresse to represent your images let them know and they will delete your images from their web site. They need to know which photographers want to be represented by LaPresse before re-launching the Olycom site.
Olycom distributors may continue to represent the Olycom images and report the sales to LaPresse.
