One of the oldest photographic agencies, Germany-based Mauritius Images, has launched a budget-priced offering. Bestprice-Stock offers more than 600,000 images priced at 20 euro to 80 euro and ranging between 1 megabyte and 50 megabytes in size, respectively.
Mauritius was established in 1923 and currently employs 80 in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Mittenwald and Vienna. The agency represents more than 700 freelancers and has distribution deals in place with some 50 other agencies worldwide.
Operating in one of the world’s top stock-image markets, Mauritius says that what distinguishes it from others is the European style or its imagery. A recently launched competitive microstock offering from Deutsch Telecom, Polylooks, makes the same claim: “Being headquartered in Germany and backed by Deutsche Telekom … means our images, while catering for the wider global market, also provide a distinctly European slant.”
