U.K. historical specialist Mary Evans Picture Library now represents Italian counterpart Alinari Archives, the oldest photo archive in the world, in both the U.K. and Stateside. Founded in 1852, Alinari has amassed over 3.5 million images. The Archives and the Museum of the History of Photography have preserved original material, such as glass plates, negatives, vintage prints and photos. Also available are images of government-owned art works and material from collections including the Italian Touring Club and Luce Institute.
