500px has announced that industry veteran Kelly Thompson has joined 500px as Head of Marketplace. Thompson will oversee the development of new products to service the company’s growing number of advertising agency and large brand enterprise accounts, as well as the servicing of the company’s base of self-service marketplace customers.
Formerly, Thompson served in a senior management positions throughout iStock’s seven-year growth period. When Co-Founder & CEO, Bruce Livingstone left iStock Thompson became Chief Operating Officer. In 2011 Thompson became
SVP of Product Development for Getty Images and moved to New York. For the last two years he has been SVP of Innovation at the Internet company
Benevity, presumably serving out a non-compete clause after leaving Getty Images.
“We’ve only begun to scratch the surface when it comes to tapping the potential of 500px’s marketplace,” said Andy Yang, CEO Of 500px. “Kelly will be instrumental in leading our initiatives to increase our market position in photo licensing both by growing our client base and helping to guide the marketplace’s product direction to better service these customers.”
Before going to Benevity, Inc. Thompson served as Executive Vice President at Getty Images and sat on their Executive Committee. He holds a B.S in Computer Science from the University of Calgary.
