iStockphoto has become the official Amateur Selection committee for the 2009 Sony World Photography Awards. Alongside professional awards, SWPA invites amateur photographers to submit work in nine categories. The iStock expert team will judge entries down to the top shortlist. Category winners will then be chosen by an official judging committee and showcased in Cannes in April 2009. Winning works will also be part of a yearlong global tour. The Amateur Photographer of the Year will attend the Cannes ceremony and collect a $5,000 prize.
