Getty Images has announced the publication of Coming Back: New Orleans Resurgent by Umbrage. The company described the book as “a moving body of work” by Getty photographer Mario Tama, introduced by CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
Coming Back, published on the fifth anniversary of Katrina, will support the rebuilding efforts in the Gulf Coast: Getty is donating 100% of the royalties to New Schools for New Orleans, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating excellent public schools.
Tama is a staff Getty photographer based in New York City. He graduated from the photojournalism program of the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1993 and joined Getty in 2001.
Images from Coming Back: New Orleans Resurgent have been published in the National Geographic, TIME, USA Today, Newsweek, Geo and others. Tama’s work covering the aftermath of the hurricane in New Orleans has also won awards, including UNICEF Photo of the Year, Pictures of the Year International and NPPA’s Best of Photojournalism. Tama’s images will also be shown in New York at Umbrage Gallery in September.
