The photographer who took the now-famous photo used by artist Shepard Fairey as reference to create a promotional poster for Barack Obama's presidential campaign has dropped his ownership claim. Multiple media are reporting that Mannie Garcia is no longer pursuing a case in which he previously claimed he took the photo as a freelancer, as opposed to an employee of the Associated Press. British Journal of Photography implies there was a settlement between Garcia and the AP;
Photo District News says Garica just wanted to be done with the matter.
