Envato Moving To U.S.

Envato, an Australian company that has provided resources and educational services to the graphic design community since 2006, has announced that it will expand its operations to the United States in 2016.

Along with additional growth opportunities, they say that being in the US will help them service US buyers with more targeted payment methods leading to better conversion rates and happier buyers. The company claims to be the largest digital media hub provider in the world with over $250 million in annual revenue.

One small segment of their operation is the microstock agency PhotoDune. PhotoDune is rated as a “low tier” agency by Microstockgroup meaning that gross revenue of this segment of Envato’s business is probably in the range $1 or $2 million, at best.

By way of illustrating the size and success of Photodune, when sorting by best selling images and searching for “Business” they have 1,158,118 images. The top selling 200 have been licensed more than 92 times and less that 1,000 have sold more than 28 times.

Envato says it offers an ecosystem of sites designed to help users get creative. It includes Envato Market, the leading marketplace for images, themes, project files and creative assets. Envato Studio connects clients with freelance talent, and Tuts+ is home to thousands of tutorials and video courses.

Over 5 million people use Envato Tuts+ each month to learn skills including code, illustration, photography, web design, and more. Millions of other professional and part-timers who are looking for creative assets, or someone to help them with a project, use the site annually.
The site has over 4.5 million digital products created by a global community of designers, developers, photographers, illustrators & producers.
