Six-year-old Dreamstime is expecting to add image number
10,000,000 to its archive some time this month. On that day, Dreamstime will
pay 100% contributor royalty on all licensed images—and exclusive contributors
will collect 110%.
A live countdown feature shows progress to the milestone on
Dreamtime.com. The contributor who submits the 10 millionth image will also
receive an iPad, along with week-long portfolio showcase on the Dreamstime home
page.
Buyers will be offered a one-day-only 200% discount on all
purchases made during the 24-hour period that marks the milestone. In a
statement, Dreamstime takes a shot at competitors: “Unlike marketing campaigns
and promotions with fancy prizes awarded to few (with rules, regulations and
stipulations in fine print), this promotion solidifies Dreamstime’s commitment
to its community—one and all.”>
The company says it continuously rewards participation.
Dreamstime hosts two ongoing contributor contests and has says it has awarded
hundreds of prizes over the years—such as those for ever millionth image and
others.
Hailing from Romania, Dreamstime is now headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. The
company claims it is currently the second leading agency—presumably after Getty
Images-owned iStockphoto—in total customers, with over 11 million unique
visitors.
