Citizen-photojournalism Web site Demotix hopes that the pull of the Financial Times will make its new contest a success. The two British companies have partnered in a contest that invites users to capture “the real story of the credit crunch.”
Entrants are encouraged to document how the financial crisis is affecting their communities. Submissions will be short-listed by financial bloggers, and winning photos will be published on the Financial Times’ Alphaville blog, which the partners say is seen by over 100,000 readers. Other prizes include personalized products from Moo.com and “one of the global media outlets which Demotix works with… wants to use their image.”
Entry deadline is Feb. 13. Entrants must register at Demotix.com and tag each contest image with Crunch09 in the Events tag box when uploading.
