In a
previous story I said that Flickr photographers receive 20% royalties when their images are sold on the Getty Images web site. In fact, Flickr photographers receive 20% of RF image sales,
BUT if their images are licensed as RM they receive 30%.
I also suggested that “in general when agencies release new agreements it usually means a lowering of royalty share for photographers.” I failed to note that on the Getty Images
Contributor Site they said, “we can tell you that there is
no change to the royalty rates for traditional RM and RF a la carte licensing.” Thus, photographers can relax and be assured that their royalty rates will remain the same. I apologize for getting everyone excited.
