In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Corbis has launched Storied, a Web site and collection of culturally and historically significant images presented by notable personalities.
Expressed through text, audio and video, contemporary writers, artists and commentators will share their insights on the events and people that shaped the photographs in the Corbis collection. Among the first group of presenters are Dana Perino, White House Press Secretary during the George W. Bush presidency, longtime Johnny Cash manager Lou Robin and photographer Henry Diltz, who discusses shooting The Doors’ Morrison Hotel album cover.
These virtual presenters’ observations range from entertaining trivia to first-person impressions of historic political events. “They talked about a lot of things,” says Perino of the White House luncheon that brought together five U.S. presidents, “from foreign policy to domestic issues, life in the White House and raising children in the public eye.”
Commentary by Bill Gates and others will be added as Storied evolves from now through September 20th, Corbis’ 20th anniversary.
