CORBIS ACQUIRES BEATEWORKS
March 17, 2006
Corbis has acquired Beateworks (www.beateworks.com), an image licensing company providing high-end interior images and celebrity home stories to magazine and corporate clients. Also included in the deal is the RF brand InsideOutPix (www.insideoutpix.com).
"Based on trend research and market data, we understand the demand for images of home interiors and living well," said Steve Davis, president and CEO of Corbis. "Whether it's a photo of model Naomi Campbell preparing Jamaican foodon her patio, or actress Julianne Moore with here children in her New York apartment, the Beateworks collections are full of rich home images."
The collection is complemented by Corbis' right clearance services (See Story 811) which enable clients to clear celebrity rights quickly and easily. Together, Corbis and Beateworks intend to identify and create the most relevant visual answers for the growing interest in interior design, decoration, creating a home, or living like the stars.
Beate Chelette, founder and CEO/President of Beateworks said, "Corbis and Beateworks are a perfect match. Corbis impressed me with their enthusiasm about our collections and their understanding of high-end imagery. Corbis is the only company that has a keen understanding of the celebrity@home market and understands that this feature segment is an important part of our operations."
"Over the last few years, the At-Home segment has shown a significant growth rate as consumers view their homes as a symbol of their identity and self expression. In order to fulfill the increasing demand for the imagery, I had to look to Corbis to take the collection to the next level," said Chelette.
