CEPIC has announced that its 2016 Congress will be held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, beginning May 25th thru the 27th, 2016. This annual event brings together stock photo distributors from all over the world. The
2015 event was held in Warsaw, Poland and attended by over 400 people from 32 countries representing all aspects of the picture industry -- stock and press agencies, cultural heritage, video vendors and producers as well as crowdsourcing and microstock companies.
This annual event is a chance for stock photo industry leaders to get together and share ideas about how to move forward. In the past a major feature of the event has been to build relationships with other content suppliers to represent ones content in other parts of the world. However, the industry’s old business model that has generated great success for many in the last few decades is now being modified by a combination of digital technology, new communication possibilities and devices that makes taking and distributing images easy for everyone. In addition, a host of new players with different approaches have entered the market.
More than ever, all the players need to constantly re-evaluate their processes and consider needed modernization. The
CEPIC Congress is the perfect place to learn about new ideas and strategies and consider future moves.
Alfonso Gutiérrez, President of CEPIC, said, “It is very clear that our industry has to adapt to a different model, but it is also good to see that the bold moves on lobbying that our organization has taken has made it possible for our voice to be heard by the European Commission. Our industry needs to become a strong force in the defense of copyright and a fair remuneration for our authors.” These are among the issues that will be discussed at the CEPIC Congress in Zagreb.
Croatia is also among the top tourist destinations in Europe. The country has a rich history and culture, as well as some of the most beautiful islands in the world on its Adriatic coastline. Croatia also boasts 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites including: The
Old City of Dubrovnik, the
Plitvice Lakes National Park in Plitvicka,
Jezera, the
Historical Complex of Split with the Palace of Diocletian, the
Historical City of Trogir, the
Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in the Historic Centre of Porec, the
Hvar’s Stari Grad Plain and the
Cathedral of St. James in Šibenik. It has been CEPIC’s practice to hold its Congresses in a different European capital each year in order to show delegates, affiliates and visitors the depth of the European history and culture and the diversity of the countries that form Europe.
