U.K.-based Capture Ltd. has released version 2.1 of its flagship photo-library management software by the same name. This month, the company demonstrated Capture at U.S. events including the Miami conference of the Picture Archive Council of America and pictureHouse New York.
The release is a Web-based front- and back-office e-commerce system that offers agencies functionality such as contributor image upload and keywording, sub-agent distribution module that keeps track of rights, a PLUS-integrated price book and support for multiple languages. The company says its own experience with its stock division Travel Ink Photo Library has produced an image-management system that offers picture libraries a total business solution.
Capture Ltd. also offers a number of other agency-oriented tools. For example, it recently launched Greenlight, a pre-flight utility that allows agencies to offer contributing photographers and production companies a software utility that ensures technical compliance of submitted images. The desktop application, which can be fully branded by an agency, can analyze thousands of images in seconds, flagging common errors such as wrong file formats, undesirable sizes or color profiles and extraneous layers.
