The Bridgeman Art Library has announced a representation agreement with The Special Photographer’s Archive, which BAL feels adds to its portfolio of social documentary and anthropological photography. Over 2,000 images have been scanned and made available on the BAL Web site, which has recently been revamped. Images of The Special Photographer’s Archive are representative of an anti-realism movement of the late 20th Century, where a more abstract and artistic approach replaced what practitioners saw as the sterile perfection of tradition.
