The British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies has announced a change of venue and a new program for the May 2010 Picture Buyers' Fair.
PBF is moving from London’s Business Design Centre to Barbican Centre. Part of the reason is that the recent wave of changes has attracted many new images buyers from new sectors. BAPLA executive director Simon Cliffe feels it is important to attract this new customer to the flagship U.K. industry event—by moving to a location closer to the metro and central parking areas. “Of course, we’re attempting to [attract new buyers] without alienating our very valued and very established friends who’ve been coming to PBF since the start of the decade,” says Cliffe.
PBF is also taking on a new concept. Next year’s event will focus on cutting-edge digital imagery by introducing a digital gallery. The new approach will allow exhibitors to show unlimited amounts of images and entertain potential clients in their own unique spaces.
Finally, BAPLA is introducing a new series of seminars—those that target the picture buyer, not the more traditional seller-oriented fair—as well as a new gala event and exhibit to kick off the show. Exhibit spaces go on sale on October 14; registration to attend opens in January 2010.
