Alamy has been chosen as a distribution partner for photo content from international news agency Reuters. The deal will give all of Alamy’s customers in the UK, US, Canada and Ireland access to millions of images that span over 20 years of incredible news photography.
Alamy’s head of content Alan Capel says: “The development of our editorial and reportage collection is a core feature of our content strategy, boosted over the past 5 years through deals with high caliber news partners such as Zuma, XinHua, EPA and PA Images. This recent deal signifies a step change in the depth of high quality content we now have in our collection”.
Rachel Wakefield, head of sales, says: “This additional high quality content will be a great resource for our editorial customers looking for all the latest in news, sport and entertainment imagery. The archive will significantly enhance our already extensive collection of editorial and reportage images and further strengthen our key position in the marketplace as the go-to resource for editorial customers”.
Images are being added to the Alamy collection daily and it is expected that nearly 9 million images from Reuters will be on the Alamy site by the end of August 2016.
Last week we reported that
ZUMA had added Reuters content to its news feed. See
here. It will be interesting to see which one dominates in the U.S. market.
