Corbis has announced the winners of its second Creativity for Social Justice Award & Scholarship. As part of the Annual ADC Awards, this prize honors work created by professionals and students for nonprofits on a pro-bono basis.
Corbis donates $20,000 to the nonprofit cause and awards the student winner with a $5,000 scholarship. Winners also receive the ADC's highest honor: the Gold Cube.
This year's professional prize is being split by TAXI Canada and Vitruvio Leo Burnett Spain. TAXI's 15 Below project marked the agency's 15-year anniversary by creating and donating jackets to help the homeless throughout Canada and the U.S. survive extreme winter conditions. Vitruvio won for a public awareness campaign that addresses the misconceptions about Down syndrome, created for the Prodis Foundation. James Yang, a student at New York's School of Visual Arts, was awarded the Corbis scholarship with a poster campaign for the Darfur Genocide Campaign.
Corbis is sponsoring an exhibit of winning works, taking place at the ADC Gallery in New York from June 5-27. In addition, the company launched a mini-Web site where creatives can help increase donations to the winning causes by searching for images. Through July 13, Corbis will donate a dollar every day for each person's first image search conducted at Search for Justice.
